County Windows 2009
9 juniors turned up but the fishing was very poor, several senior
anglers prowled the banks muttering how poor it was and what was the next days
match on the same stretch going to be like.
In the end the cup was won by young Tom Davies on the prime
swim opposite the rowing club with a hard fished 4oz, I watched Tom for some
time and he was getting regular bites which he could not hit and I think he had
lots of small Dace in his swim, he also hooked and lost a couple of Perch and a
weight closer to 12oz would have been a better reflection of his swim on the
day. 2nd was Tom "I'm not a miner" Myring who fishedcloser to the bridge with a
few Bleak for 2.5 oz with once again several bites missed from small fish.
Marcus Lath managed third with 1oz.
The owner Of County Windows, Mr David Day, very kindly
provided the cash prizes and presented them on the bank to the fortunate
winners.
The fishing was badly effected by all the elements, very
clear water, no stream, bright sunshine and a nasty wind plus a killer to all
fishing, a full moon so well done to all 9 participants and, as was proved in
the following days open, catching fish this weekend on the river was very hard
indeed
